Oldenbora

The spirit of Ibiza, in Germany’s northwest.

 Rastede, Germany, 20 May 2018

Oldenbora is an electronic music festival held each year close to the German town of Rastede. Taking over the Beachclub Nethen on the banks of a lake, the one-day festival keeps the party going until the early hours.
More than a decade on from its debut, Oldenbora can now boast line-ups that consistently include stars of the scene, with the likes of German veteran Moguai and Stil vor Talent boss Oliver Koletzki among those performing this year.
And with a whole day of partying on the beach, sound tracked by the summer sounds of house, electro, techno and more, the lakeside spectacular brings the spirit of Ibiza to the Germany’s northwest.

Sea Star Festival

From the team behind EXIT and Sea Dance

Umag, Croatia, 24 – 27 May 2018

Sea Star Festival is a Croatian music festival from the team behind EXIT and Sea Dance. Taking place at the lush Stella Maris resort on the Croatian coast, Sea Star lays on a line-up that spans the genres, and was one that included The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim and Paul Kalkbrenner in 2017.
That edition was also the festival’s first, and has paved the way EXIT’s advance across Europe, bringing its infamous and wild parties to some of the continent’s most beautiful locations.
That means beyond the music, festival-goers are encouraged to explore the surroundings of Umag, famed for its rich Mediterranean spirit and historical architecture, while also taking advantage of the local cycle paths that span the coastline.

BBC’s Biggest Weekend

This year’s replacement for Glastonbury

United Kingdom, 25-28 May 2018

BBC’s Biggest Weekend will be the organisation’s biggest celebration of music across four nations and four days this May bank holiday, and has been dubbed this year’s replacement for Glastonbury.
The event will be headlined by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran in Swansea for Radio 1, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in Perth for Radio 2, and Beck, Courtney Barnett, Manic Street Preachers and Public Service Broadcasting are lined up for a BBC 6 Music weekend in Belfast.
A site in Coventry will feature Radio 2 and Radio 3 performances from artists including Billy Ocean, Snow Patrol, Eliza Carthy & The Wayward Band and Nigel Kennedy with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
On the announcement that he will headline the Swansea site, Ed Sheeran said: “So excited to be part of The Biggest Weekend this summer. I’ve always loved performing at Big Weekend with Radio 1 and this year it’s going to be even bigger. Bring it on Swansea!”
Manic Street Preachers, who will play Belfast, added: “The Biggest Weekend is in Belfast, which is good in itself. We’ve played there a lot over the years, we did one of the greatest gigs ever there back in The Limelight in 1990. And then we’ve had subsequently just lots of great gigs there, just amazing ones. It is good to spread 6 Music’s message far and wide.”
