Nocturne Live at Blenheim Palace
Nocturne Live is a series of musical concerts and gigs at the stunning Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, 14-17 June 2018
Inviting a selection of world-class acts to its Great Court, Nocturne is all about great music and summer relaxation.
Legendary disco band Chic & Nile Rodgers will headline the event on Thursday 14 June. Multiple Grammy-winning composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist Nile Rogers is responsible for a string of worldwide hits including Let’s Dance by David Bowie, Diana Ross’ I’m Coming Out and Sister Sledge’s classic hit We Are Family.
His partnership with Chic has become a household name, with the group’s groovy funk and dance vibes some of the most distinctive and symbolic music of recent times, and hits such as Le Freak, Everybody Dance and Good Times now staples of every record collection.
Arguably the greatest British songwriter of his generation, Noel Gallagher recently became the first artist in UK Chart history to have ten consecutive number one albums.
His solo performances with his High Flying Birds band feature a mix of solo material alongside a selection of iconic Oasis anthems. He will headline on Friday 15 June.
With four albums in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of all Time list, Elvis Costello is a true song-writing legend, rising up from London’s pub rock scene in the 1970s. He will headline the series on Saturday 16 June.
Meanwhile, Gary Barlow will headline on Sunday 17 June. Performing hits from both his solo career and Take That, this will be an incredible finale to the 2018 Nocturne series of summer concerts.
NOS Primavera Sound
NOS Primavera Sound is an eclectic alternative music festival in Porto, Portugal.
Porto, Portugal, 7-9 June 2018
Founded in 2011, this is the younger sibling to the revered Barcelona festival of the same name.
Like its older sibling, the Portuguese outing shares the unerring dedication to showcasing fresh and exciting new music, on a line-up that is consistently one of the best in Europe.
Recent editions have welcomed leading lights from an array of styles and genres, including Aphex Twin, Run the Jewels, PJ Harvey and Sigur Rós.
Where the festival differs from its Spanish sibling is its setting and surroundings, not simply by virtue of being in another country and city. Rather than the modern industrial surroundings of Barcelona’s Parc del Forum, NOS Primavera Sound nestles among lush greenery in Porto’s picturesque Parque da Cidade.
Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is the world’s most famous beer festival, held for a few weeks each year in the German city of Munich.
Munich, Germany, 22 September – 7 October 2018
Attracting thousands upon thousands of people from around the world to Munich, Oktoberfest’s historic folk celebration of Bavarian culture and (above all) the beers of the region has jumped to the top of most people’s bucket lists.
Alongside the copious amount of beer tents – with capacities ranging from less than 100 to well over 8000 – an integral part of the festival is the enormous funfair that rolls into the city.
Live music, traditional costumes, parades, and a vast variety of German cuisine complete the celebrations for what is now one of the world’s biggest parties.
